In my family, Sunday night dinner always meant macaroni and red sauce (aka pasta with marinara sauce). Last night I didn’t feel like making macaroni for myself but tonight I decided that I was due for some red sauce. I didn’t have angel hair (my favorite) but I did have a zucchini and a spiralizer.
This was my first time using my new kitchen gadget and it was a lot of fun. The best part was that it was so simple to use (except for when I turned the handle the wrong way and thought that I broke it).

It is just like the box! It looks rather scary but it isn’t. In fact, it is all plastic so it is not super sturdy but it gets the job done.

The blades. The middle one is upside down (oops). It comes with three blades. The back of the box calls them: The Chipper, The Slicer, and The Shredder.

I love that the box is in English and Italiano.

I tested each blade before deciding which one to use.
Big Momma Spirals. I really want to spiralize a sweet potato at this setting and bake them. Sweet potato chips are definitely in my future.

Medium Spirals. Great for steaming.

Teeny Spirals. I think the really thin noodles will be ideal for eating the zucchini raw.

I lightly steamed the zucchini after I spiralized and combined with a homemade basil tomato sauce. I used the medium spirals for steaming and it was perfect. I was afraid that the teeny spiral would be too small and practically disappear during steaming.

What else can be spiralized? I was thinking of spiralizing a sweet potato, cucumber, and yellow squash. The box shows a picture of cabbage. I had not thought of that one.
That looks delicious! I would like to order that right now please.
I have absolutely no creative suggestions on what to spiralize. Sweet potatoes fries would be fabulous!!!!
oh man i want one of those! makes veggies so much more fun!
ahh that looks like such a fun little appliance!
Whoa, that contraption looks very intense, but that zucchini came out perfectly! I love those delicate, beautiful spirals. Your tomato sauce sounds like the best topper, ever. Great post!
Awesome post!! I just ordered one (well something like it) and I can’t wait to test it out. You could do beets for a salad, or carrots?!!? The possibilities are endless!!:)
Great pictures!
Oh so fun! I really want one of these!
I got the exact same spiralizer for Christmas! Can’t wait to see what else you make with it.
I love using zucchini instead of pasta because then I can eat bowls and bowls and bowls like I always want to do with pasta
Did you make your own red sauce? It looks fab!
i can’t even imagine spiraled cabbage…do it!!
i love kitchen gadgets!
I am sooooo jealous! I want one! I’d try sweet potatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, yellow squash and cabbage.
love my spiralizer. i usually do some cabbage on the medium slicer and sometimes there are some really crazy big carrots at the farmers market that are spiralizable (hee- i made that up). mix together with your thin zucchini with an almond butter “peanut” sauce for a wonderful version of pad thai!! pesto is great too on the zucchini!!!
i have done the sweet potato fries- the little slicer shrinks them up to much when they bake- the medium or chips is better!!!
I need to get one of those spiralizers! I used one when I was in catering for garnishes and now I see I totally missed the reason to have one! I love raw zucchini with sauce…so good!
