The kitchen sink.

I am sure you have heard the expression “everything and the kitchen sink” (or “everything but the kitchen sink”) when referring to almost all that you can imagine of something. Like going on an overnight vacation and you pack 3 huge suitcases. You packed everything and the kitchen sink. Or maybe you have heard the expression used when referring to communication. When two people are arguing about one topic (let’s say, who is going to wash the car) and all of a sudden one person throws in a old argument (the electric bill that was paid late. 4 years ago). The argument goes from talking about the car to fighting about a past fight. One small fight turns into a huge fight about all of the arguments you have ever had.

Last night, I kitchen sinked (verb?) my salad. Then I did it again this morning with my juice. I will be going out of town this weekend to visit the folks and I have a lot of fruits and veggies to eat in the next few days. Last night, I opened the fridge and just kept adding vegetables until I had one of everything on my plate. I did that again this morning.

My breakfast juice included:

2 lemons

4 carrots

2 collard leaves

3 stalks of kale

1/2 stalk celery

1 green apple

My salad from last night included:

romaine lettuce

zucchini spirals (from the gray day)

kale

broccoli sprouts

vine ripe tomato

carrots

avocado

Are you a fan of kitchen sinking? What do you make where you just add ingredients until there is nothing left to add? Juice, salads, oatmeal and stir-fry are at the top of my list.

This morning began with making A LOT of juice. I have been craving green juice the past few days. In an ideal world I would drink a green juice everyday but sometimes life gets in the way and it doesn’t happen. Juicing is a time commitment but it is definitely worth it. It usually takes me about 20 minutes to make juice (including clean-up) but some mornings I prefer to sleep in a few extra minutes.

My breakfast juice included:

1 beet

1 lemon

1 yellow apple

It is difficult to see from the photo but the color of this juice was amazing. So pink. And the taste … delish!

After the breakfast juice was made, I got to work on making green juice. I try to make at least two batches of green juice at a time. Making extra saves a ton of time. Today I was able to make three serving of green juice. That means Jimmy the Juicer gets a few days off.

The green juice included:

1 bunch of kale

1 stalk of celery

2 lemons

1 apple

6 carrots

I split my batch of juice into three containers. I put these two bottles of juice in the freezer.

And saved this one in the fridge for a pre-lunch drink.

And now for a little…

My roommate came home the other day with A LITTLE tree. A pink tree!

The tree is about 3 feet tall. Too cute!

PS My roommate has finished and wrapped all of her Christmas presents — all of those gifts are hers. I have only bought 2 gifts and I like to save the wrapping until December 24th. This is actually the first year that I have bought any gifts this early; I usually wait until the weekend before to do my shopping. I also wait until a day or two before to wrap and I have been known to wrap a gift or two on Christmas morning. Are you an early shopper or do you wait until just before?
